Armenians do not need other’s brands, we are content with ours. Armenian brands are well known in international markets and are not inferior to the Georgian ones, Vazgen Safaryan, chairman of the union of Armenian producers told NEWS.am, commenting on recent Georgian press reports saying that the Armenian businessmen are using Georgian brands for their production.
“Georgian businessmen are interested in entering the Russian market through Armenia, and under these circumstances we should begin negotiations with our colleagues from Georgia,” he said. The situation may become complicated unless we respond promptly. According to him, the Russian side should also be informed of the situation not to cause difficulties with further selling of the Armenian goods in the Russian market.
“We must fight for our brands, but not present foreign ones as ours, it is absolutely unacceptable. It is the issue concerning intellectual property. We also must not allow our brands to be used by other producers,” Safaryan concluded.
