More than 300 Turkish hotels are hiding the true number of stars, thereby deceiving tourists. This was stated by the chairman of the Consumer Protection of Alanya (THD) Jamal Shendzhan, writes Euromag.

According to Shendzhan, more than 300 out of 850 hotels operating in Alanya are working with fake star status, thus triggering the unhealthy competition in the area, as well as cheating tourists.

Last year, THD received over one hundred complaints on the wrong star status.

The chairman of the Consumer Protection Alanya stated that some hotels without stars and permits to work in the city are advertised as two, three and even four star hotels on websites. Because of numerous complaints three years ago certification of hotels was carried out in Alanya, which revealed that nearly 250 out of 850 hotels used fake star status. Today three years later the number of complaints has not decreased, but increased, said Shendzhan.
