December 27, 2010, through January 14, 2011, Armenian banks purchased a total of U.S. $167.4 million and sold U.S. $238.7 million.

The Central Bank of Armenia (CBA) informed NEWS.am that demand for U.S. dollars remains high, which reduces pressure on the Armenian national currency.

However, loan de-dollarization is in progress. Economic entities prefer AMD credits, which may be connected with the programs implemented by international agencies. According to official information, Armenian banks issued loans totaling 56.3 billion AMD (about U.S. $155 million), and USD loans totaling U.S. $111.9 million.
