The recent military coup in Tunisia does not hinder Armenian travel agencies to organize tours to the country. Though the Armenia-Tunisia charter flight is carried out only in summer, every Wednesday all adventurers can arrive in this country.  Certainly, no tour operator will guarantee a tourist’s security in Tunisia or provide medical insurance.

NEWS.am contacted several Armenian travel agencies (“Imega tour”, “Ararat tour,” “Armane”, “Argotour”). When the NEWS.am correspondent informed the tour operators of his intention to leave for Tunisia, all the agencies said they are ready to organize tours to this country, without even hinting the situation is tensed in the country, moreover, a military coup erupted and a state of emergency and a nighttime curfew has been imposed in Tunisia.

Commenting whether the travel agencies can guarantee a traveler’s security, the operator said: “No travel agency can protected anyone. We only arrange travel and accommodation.”

It became clear no Armenian tourist left for Tunisia during the recent 10 days.  The tour operators explained it by a low season for tourism and weather conditions in the country. (The temperature in Tunisia is +13-15C and the country is not attractive for tourists during this season).

As NEWS.am reported previously, a military coup against the Ben Ali regime and President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali has erupted in Tunisia. According to the latest information, the authorities lost control in the capital and other cities.  Although the President Zine al-Abidine Ben Ali imposed a state of emergency in the country and a nighttime curfew, thousands of protestors go on taking the streets. Riots in the country have begun since December 17. Dozens of people were killed and wounded in protests.
