Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan met with Archbishop Chrysostomos II during his state visit to Cyprus on January 17. The sides discussed a number of issues on the centuries’-old friendship between Armenia and Cyprus and the role of a church for Armenian and Cypriot people in preserving culture and national identity.

Serzh Sargsyan and Chrysostomos II also discussed issues regarding the local Armenian community, which integrated with the Cypriot society thanks to the local authorities.

Later, the Armenian President visited Armenian School “Narek”, familiarized himself with the school conditions and gave books to the school. Serzh Sargsyan also visited Armenian church “Holy Mother” in Nicosia and met with representatives of the Armenian community.
