Turkish President Abdullah Gul plans to pay a visit to Iran, in line with the two neighbors’ determination to develop bilateral ties, Iran’s Acting Minister Foreign Affairs Ali Akbar Salehi said.

“Iran and Turkey have close relations and as such there’s a need for frequent consultations at different levels,” Salehi said, Press TV reports.

The Iranian official further said that President Gul’s upcoming visit to Tehran underlines the large extent of cooperation between the two countries.

He made a reference to the trade volume between Iran and its northwestern neighbor and stressed efforts are underway to boost the trade level from last year’s $10 bn to $30 bn in near future.

Salehi is scheduled to meet with Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutogl during his visit to Ankara.
