Armenia tried to make a step toward Turkey to establish relations worthy of neighbors. However, Armenia did not see political will on Ankara’s part, RA President Serzh Sargsyan told journalists in Athens, Greece.

“I am happy to hear our partners are not against Turkey’s membership in the European Union. However, achieving the aims requires passing through one’s own past and following the way of establishing civilized cooperation with partners. When Turkey meets European standards we will have a predictable neighbor,” the Armenian leader said.

Speaking of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Armenian President said: “Despite Baku’s never-stopping threats to use force we will remain committed to the OSCE Minsk Group’s policy aimed at settling the conflict.”

President Serzh Sargsyan stressed the importance of Armenian-Greek cooperation within international agencies. He emphasized cooperation between the military and policing branches, as well as an Armenian-Greek business forum in Athens.

Both Greek and Armenian economies are overcoming the consequences of the global crisis and the two countries’ businessmen can do very much to overcome them a day earlier.

Speaking of bilateral cultural cooperation, the Armenia President expressed the confidence that Days of Armenian Culture in Greece and Days of Greek Culture in Armenia will be held at the highest level and strengthen bilateral cultural ties and friendly relations.
