RA Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan stated introducing new milk production standards was one of his first initiatives.

NEWS.am reminds readers that Melita Hakobyan, Chairwoman of the National Consumer Association, stated last December that some milk producers mixed soda into milk. Grisha Baghyan, Chief of the Food Safety Inspection, stated publicly that Ashtarak Kat was one of the companies practicing this. Silva Gaginyan, Executive Director of the Ashtarak Kat company, told NEWS.am she “never give[s] interviews to mass media.”

Under the new standards, milk producers will be obliged to indicate the ingredients and primary product used – natural milk or milk powder.
