The minor court of the Avan and Nor Nork communities has adjourned the consideration of a claim lodged by Bella Kocharyan and Sedrak Kocharyan against the Zhamanak newspaper. The complainants did not appear in court, and Judge Araik Melkumyan adjourned the case until February 1.

The family of the Armenian ex-president lodged a claim against the founder of the Zhamanak newspaper, Media Center Start Ltd. The complainants accuse the company of damaging their reputation and demand a compensation of 6 million AMD.

The member of the Heritage parliamentary faction Zaruhi Postanjyan will represent the defendant in court. She told NEWS.am that the claim was to have been lodged within a month after the article was published.

Talking to NEWS.am, Editor of the Zhamanak newspaper Arman Babajanyan said that the Kocharyans week to create financial problems for the opposition newspaper.

Robert Kocharyan demanded that the newspaper publish retractions of a number of articles.
