The January 20 incident in the frontline once again proves that Azerbaijani authorities either fail to control actions of their armed forces in the line of contact or stage provocations themselves, said Davit Karapetyan, spokesperson for the Armenian Defense Ministry.

A soldier of the NKR Defense Army Hovik Sukiasyan was killed in a ceasefire violations by Azerbaijani side in the frontline between the armed forces of Azerbaijan and Karabakh on January 20. With retaliatory fire the NKR Defense Army silenced the enemy. According to preliminary information, the Azerbaijani side incurred more losses. Details of the incident are being clarified.

“In both cases Azerbaijani leadership is responsible for the incident. RA Defense Ministry conveys deep condolences to the family of Hovik Sukiasyan killed in the incident,” the statement reads.
