A 3.7-magnitude earthquake (epicenter 5 points) hit Iran on January 25, at 3:56 Moscow time, 5 km west of Khoy city.

Magnitude 2.7 and 2.6 aftershocks were registered at 4:02 and 7:39 respectively.

According to Armenian National Seismic Protection Service, from January 13-19, 9 earth shocks were registered in the region, including Iran.

Iran straddles a major geological fault line, making it prone to tremors. On average the country experiences at least one slight earthquake a day.
