Thousands of demonstrators in Yemen took to the streets on Thursday demanding resignation of incumbent president Ali Abdallah Saleh. President Saleh has ruled Yemen for more than 30 years. The protestors express dissatisfaction with social and economic situation in the country, they call for an end to corruption and improvement of living conditions.  

Local government deployed security forces in the streets, the New York Times writes.
