A number of Armenian MPs have introduced a bill reducing state duties for regional TV channels.

The bill sets the following rates for coverage areas: 100,000 AMD (U.S. $278) for regions, 50,000 AMD (U.S. $139) for towns and settlements and 150,000 AMD (U.S. $417) for broadcasting in more than one region.

At its January 27 sitting the Government did not approve of the bill. The Government stated it did not raise the state duties. The following rates will be in effect until 2015: 10,000 AMD (U.S. $26.5) for individuals, 50,000 (U.S. $139) for legal entities.
