Domino effect is traced in developments in Arab Africa. First riots broke out in Tunisia, then Egypt, the next are Yemen and Jordan, political expert Andrey Areshev told Armenian News-NEWS.am. He considers the reason for protests is a difficult social and economic situation in the African states and the entire Middle East.

Deputy director of the Russian Strategic Culture Foundation stressed that inability of ruling elites to cope with problems leads to strengthening of Islamic organizations and growing of pro-Islamic sentiments in Arab Africa and the Middle East. Areshev noted this tendency grew after U.S. and West interfered. In fact their attempts to establish democracy in the region brought chaos in the regional states provoking increase of pro-Islamic moods.

The expert added that situation in Arab Africa influences the Middle East and adjacent regions. “It will become more notable in the near future,” the expert said. According to him, world should work out new approaches to tackle the problems in the region.
