Egyptian police used tear gas against demonstrators in Cairo on Friday preventing them from entering Tahrir Square. Nevertheless, crowds gather in the center, Al Jazira reported.

Egyptians took to the streets demanding resignation of incumbent president Hosni Mubarak. Some protestors are carrying pictures of Gamal Abdel Nasser, a socialist ruling in Egypt in 1950-60. According to some sources, groups of demonstrators gathered near presidential palace and are chanting slogans, ITAR-TASS reported.

Leading Egyptian oppositionist Mohamad ElBaradei has arrived in Egypt from Viena and stated he is ready to head the country openly demanding resignation of Hosni Mubarak.

About 2000 demonstrators were arrested in Cairo during riots calling for an end to Hosni Mubarak’s rule during this week. At least five people were killed in the clashes with security forces.

Earlier this week Armenian Ambassador to Egypt Armen Melkonian told Armenian News-NEWS.am Armenians did not participate in the January 25-26 riots.
