All five Armenian citizens, who are presently in Cairo, are students. They were not hurt in unrests, spokesperson for the Armenian foreign office Tigran Balayan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“Armenian Embassy in Egypt is in contact with them. The foreign ministry is in touch with the Armenian Ambassador in Cairo. As to the local Armenian community, they do not interfere and bear no relation to riots. In any case the Armenian community was not affected,” he said.
Summing up, the spokesperson noted the building of the Armenian Embassy is in a safe place and is well protected.
Yesterday Egypt’s president Hosni Mubarak announced he dismissed the Cabinet and intends to form a new one today.
