In the rating of Political Risk Atlas 2011 released by risk analysis and mapping firm Maplecroft, Armenia is included in the category of “high risk” countries.

The group also includes Azerbaijan, countries of Central Asia and Iran. Georgia and Turkey are considered “medium risk” countries, Russia belongs to the “extreme risk” group. The US, Australia, Japan and Scandinavian countries are among the countries categorized as “low risk.”

The study provides a comprehensive appraisal of investment risks in 196 countries, composed from the following criteria: conflict, terrorism, the rule of law, the regulatory, business environment, security of resources, human rights, climate change, development of infrastructures, education, poverty, etc.
