The statement of the Armenian MP regarding Karabakh during PACE winter session was voiced at the meeting chaired by PACE chairman, Mevlut Cavusoglu.

Zaruhi Postanjyan, MP of the Heritage parliamentary group, stressed Nagorno-Karabakh Republic is an established democratic state.

Talking to the journalists on Tuesday Zaruhi Postanjyan said contrary to expectations of the Armenian delegation’s head the statement was signed by MPs from 22 countries.

“Head of the Armenian delegation Davit Harutunyan doubted anyone will sign the declaration. He said the document was written in rough language. But finally it was signed and was a real diplomatic victory. Unfortunately, the Russian delegates did not join the initiative which should make Armenian Foreign Ministry draw conclusions. It is the result of shortcomings of the Armenian foreign office,” she said.

The MP also stressed statement on Nagorno-Karabakh was not only an informative one but was a propaganda-oriented move. “The document is a mere declaration, but it may become the basis for a more fundamental document,” Postanjyan noted.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, last Thursday twenty-nine PACE MPs signed “Building of a democratic state by the Republic of Mountainous Karabagh” declaration.

The document mentions that “Karabagh Armenians continue to peacefully build their democratic state and are guided by international norms and standards, one of the most important of which was the 2006 constitutional referendum”.
