The Georgian authorities plan to create a national park in Javakhk. The initiators have already submitted the project to parliament, the discussion will be held in the next few days.
Doing so the Georgian government intends to develop tourism and hopes the program will become a major financial source in the future, Georgian InterpressNews reported.
”Preserving nature, the Georgian government hopes to develop tourism in this area, which, in its turn, will contribute to the development of this region,” project’s initiators say.
Javakhk (Georgian name – Javakheti) is an Armenian-populated part of Georgia’s southeastern Samtskhe-Javakheti province.
