Ministry of Agriculture of Armenia should no longer be involved in regulating the wine industry, stated Chairman of the Armenian Winemakers Union Avag Harutuyunian, on February 4.

The farms that sell grapes and wineries that buy grapes are in constant conflict due to the payments, prices, quality and other issues. In such cases the Ministry of Agriculture always protects farmers by putting pressure on wineries, he explained.

Responding to Armenia News - NEWS.am correspondent’s remark, that wineries are always late in their payments, Arutyunyan said that it was standard industry procedure.
