The Armenian Government inability to carry out reforms worsens the social situation in the country, Larisa Alaverdyan, a member of the Heritage parliamentary faction, told journalists February 4.

According to her, the announcement of ambitious programs evokes a negative response, the program of raising water level in Lake Sevan being an example.   

"Yes, the water level has risen by 291 centimeter. However, trout has disappeared from the lake, and the resultant ban on fishing left the local residents unemployed," she said.

One more example is the planned construction of a mineral water bottlery in Kotayk.

The bottlery is to be constructed in the sown area of the Artavaz community and in the pasture. The locals do not receive adequate compensations. Also, it will cause a sharp decrease in the livestock population, Alaverdyan said.

Emigration is another consequence of the Government`s policy, which may adversely affect the country in the future.

Earlier, the Parliament member Gagik Abrahamyan said: "My partner, a foreign businessman, started investing huge funds in Armenia. He also intends to construct a mineral water bottlery to export the products. Part of the Government-allotted lands is an area used for sowing by the residents of the Artavaz community. In the case of this area, the Government gives priority to public interests. Negotiations with the owners are under way now. They will receive compensations by law.

"After all, the bottlery will employ the same residents of the Artavaz community- the people that demand jobs from the Government."
