US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he remained open to the possibility of talks between Washington and Tehran.

“Iran is in turmoil right now. They’re in total turmoil,” Trump told reporters before a meeting with Kuwait’s emir, Reuters reported.

“Now they [Iran] are just worrying about their own survival as a country,” he said. “We’ll see what happens with Iran. Whether they want to talk or not, that’s up to them, not up to me. I will always be available, but it doesn’t matter one way or the other.”

When asked whether he would be willing to meet Iranian President Hassan Rouhani at the UN General Assembly, Trump said, “Anything’s possible. We’ll see.”
