At least six people were detained in Barcelona by the Catalan police on Saturday during protest actions, DW reported.
According to the source, at least 24 people were injured, five of them hospitalized during the protests.
The police march was organized by the JUSAPOL police association, as it wants Spain's national police and Civil Guard to be paid as much as Catalonia's regional police.
“Tensions were running high ahead of the first anniversary of the independence referendum that had prompted a crackdown by Madrid,” the source added.
