Armenian Ambassador to UN Garen Nazaryan participated in a day-long debate dedicated to securing international security and peace, as well as coherence and coordinated actions of the UN member states.

Garen Nazaryan spoke of the essence of economic cooperation while ensuring lasting peace. The experience of international organizations dealing with conflict situations demonstrated that lasting and sustainable peace required a comprehensive approach to security as well as a package of solutions that took into account both the root causes of the conflict and the economic situation on the ground, he stressed.

Ambassador Nazaryan noted the experience of the South Caucasus showed that the rejection of regional economic cooperation and the imposition of closed borders and blockades did not bring about political solutions. On the contrary, they alienated the region’s peoples and ruined their trust in and hope for a lasting peace.

UN Secretary General. Foreign Ministers of Brazil, Germany, Columbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Portugal, India, Slovenia, Costa Rica, representative of the World Bank and other high ranking officials participated in a debate.
