Iran hopes the Azerbaijani authorities will put en end to activities of the “People’s Mojahedin” , a terrorist group which has killed 12,000 Iranian citizens, said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.

The statement came after a video telling about members of banned “People’s Mojahedin” terrorist organization who reside in Azerbaijan. Mehmanparast stressed that no one can shelter members of this terrorist group.

In an interview broadcasted on Azerbaijani ANS television members of the banned terrorist group said they have been living in Azerbaijan for 9 years supported by their Azerbaijani friends.

People’s Mojahedin of Iran was formed in 1965 by a group of Iranian college students as an Islamic political movement. The group claims to have renounced violence in 2001 and calls for democratic coalition government in Iran.
