The Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) is not discussing the signing of a new coalition document, which envisages the ruling forces` joint participation in the parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled for 2012 and 2013 respectively, the PAP parliamentary faction member Vardan Bostanjyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

According to him, the coalition forces are likely to sign a new cooperation agreement that would envisage the ruling forces` support for the incumbent President at the 2013 presidential election. "Yes, Prosperous Armenia will support President Serzh Sargsyan at the 2013 election. The most important thing for us is that the head of state be a strong-willed and intelligent politician. In this respect I do not see any alternative to Serzh Sargsyan," Bostanjyan said. As to whether Armenia`s second president Robert Kocharyan may be viewed as an alternative to Serzh Sargsyan, he said that he is not inclined to answer "if-questions."

As to the possibility of PAP Chairman Gagik Tsarukyan running for presidency, Bostanjyan said: "Mr. Tsarukyan has repeatedly stated he is unwilling to run for presidency."

Rumors about a new document on cooperation within the ruling coalition have been circulating for several days. According to unofficial information, the date for signing the document has been fixed. The ruling coalition confirmed the information only to repudiate their statements later. Off the record, coalition representatives are now confirming the existence of the document and the possibility of its being signed as soon as Feb. 16.
