As a result of a regular deal reached by Azerbaijani-Turkish lobby, the PACE Sub-Committee on Nagorno-Karabakh was restored, said member of the Armenian delegation to Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).

Naira Zohrabyan stressed the committee has already proved to be extremely useless during its short existence.

“Meanwhile, co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group have repeatedly stated that the only acceptable format for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict is the OSCE Minsk Group, and any other format could harm the negotiating process. Armenia also has always defended and continues to defend this view, considering changing the format invalid,” the Armenian MP writes in a letter to French Co-Chair Bernard Fassier.

According to her, the only goal is to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict through peaceful negotiations relying on international law. “Therefore, any non-constructive step can cause irreversible damage to the negotiation process,” Zohrabyan says, adding this stance was adopted by the co-chairs who repeatedly stated prioritizing of certain provision does not confirm to the concept of peaceful resolution.

In this context the MP considers at least strange behavior of French representative in the PACE bureau, as he did not even try to defend the position of the OSCE Minsk Group which also includes France.
