World market trends account for inflation rise in Armenia and Georgia, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan stated at a press conference held jointly with his Georgian counterpart Nika Gilauri.

He stressed that both Armenia and Georgia have elaborated measures to curb inflation. “In Armenia, we are applying both generally accepted inflation control practices and increasing funding and number of social programs,” Sargsyan said. Pensions have been raised and 105,000 families involved in various social programs in Armenia. The Armenian Premier announced the Government`s intention to subsidize rural communities and agricultural sector, which will reduce seed prices and increase cultivated areas.

In his turn, the Georgian Premier pointed out that, besides the aforementioned measures, the Georgian Government also distributes energy and food vouchers among the population.
