Armenian-Georgian economic ties are developing, but bilateral trade turnover cannot be considered satisfactory, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan stated at his meeting with Georgian Prime Minister Nikolos Gilauri.

The RA presidential press office informed Armenian News-NEWS.am that President Serzh Sargsyan underlined the importance of bilateral meetings at various levels, which creates opportunities for developing comprehensive cooperation. The sides pointed out the need for cultural and educational programs.

"I think we must expand our cultural ties. We have intensified our relevant activities lately. The school competition was a brilliant idea. President Mikhail Saakashvili`s statement on grants for Armenian students to study at Georgia higher schools is of importance for us. We are doing the same. We should take any opportunity to enable young people to communicate. I would like to stress once more our peoples` centuries-long friendship, and our task is to uphold the traditions and hand them down to future generations," President Serzh Sargsyan said.

Premier Gilauri conveyed the Georgian President`s greetings and invitation to visit Georgia to the Armenian leader.
