Realization of Georgian President’s “United Caucasus” program is unlikely as certain Caucasian states are faced with unsolved problems, Sergey Minasyan, expert at the Caucasus Institute, told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In the context of existing problems between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenia and Turkey, as well as Georgia and Russia the idea sounds not serious from the political viewpoint, the expert said, adding participation of Iran and Russia is not planned.

As to economic cooperation, only a scheme of bilateral relations, such as Armenia-Georgia, Georgia-Azerbaijan, Georgia-Turkey is realistic. The only possibility is to establish more facilitated economic and communication relations between Yerevan and Tbilisi enabling Armenia to connect with other states.

He stressed putting forward such initiatives the Georgian president tries to get benefits for his country subconsciously imagining himself in the center of Caucasus. According to Saakashvili, integration will be carried out by Georgia.

Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu have recently discussed creation of “United Caucasus” program. According to Saakashvili, border opening is a crucial point for the people of Caucasus, whereas Georgia can become an economic link for the Center Asia and Turkey.
