The EU offers to merge two gas projects Nabucco and Turkey-Greece-Italy (ITGI) to provide supplies of Azerbaijani gas to Europe.
The Union seeks to reduce dependence on Russian fuel at the expense of gas from the Caspian region, Reuters reported referring to the EU source.
Nabucco gas pipeline estimated to cost about €7.9 billion provides for export of gas from Azerbaijan and Central Asia to the EU states. The first supplies are scheduled for 2015.
