YEREVAN. – The state should exist for the benefits of citizens, and not vice versa, as it was in Armenia before, said Bright Armenia party head Edmon Marukyan during the election campaign in Shirak province on Friday.

According to him, Armenia should grow stronger, since it is required by the countries’ geopolitical position in the region.

Armenia is surrounded by unfriendly states such as Turkey and Azerbaijan, he said adding that “we cannot get rid of them and move our territory somewhere else. Thus, we must take into account this factor and begin the process of strengthening our statehood.”
