Libya’s Internet was shut down late Friday, Agence France-Presse reported referring to the American Arbor Networks.

Mass riots have been held in Libya since February 17 in protest against country’s leader Muammar Gaddafi.

Anti-government demonstrations have led to change of power in Tunis and Egypt. The oppositionists actively used Internet, in particular Facebook social networking website and Twitter to coordinate their actions.

The Human Rights Watch organization reported at least 84 were killed in three-day clashes between demonstrators and law enforcers.
