YEREVAN. – Winning election with majorly is putting responsibility on the new majority, head of PACE delegation of observers Aleksander Pociej said.

“Of course, that is the first step. If the reforms, and mainly judicial system will not follow, it is going to be a problem,” he said when asked how the observers assess the fact that it seems to be no opposition in the Armenian parliament.

The observers said it is not up to them to judge how the parliament will work, as the will of the people was expressed during the election.

“We are not judging the will of people, if there is the opposition or not we will see in next years,” said one of the observers. 

Asked about low turnout, the observes repeated that it is the freedom of citizen to take part in the election or not. However, those not going to the polls have to know that if they stay at home, they will receive what the others will choose.

“Perhaps, during the next election they will go to the vote if they are not satisfied,” said Peter Osusky, Special Co-ordinator and leader of the short-term OSCE observer mission.
