On this occasion, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II is offering a special Divine Liturgy at the Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, in Armenia’s capital city of Yerevan.
After this special Divine Liturgy, the Armenian Apostolic Church performs a water blessing ceremony in memory of the baptism of Jesus. Subsequently, people take that water home as a blessing.
According to the Armenian Apostolic Church, Christ was baptized in the Jordan River on the same day 30 years after his birth, on January 6.
