Resumption of hostilities cannot be ruled out, EU official says

The EU will continue active participation in all the regional processes, the outgoing EU special envoy for the South Caucasus said in Yerevan.

Peter Semneby stated the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict becomes more and more serious issue for the Union.

The EU would devote more attention to the process and would seek ways to support the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group, he added. Semneby stated one cannot rule out resumption of hostilities in the conflict zone.

Speaking of his work as the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus Peter Semneby noted it was a difficult period for the region, pointing out the 1998 domestic political crisis in Armenia and the Russian-Georgian war.
