YEREVAN. – Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) MP Arman Abovyan does not consider concerning the informal, impromptu meetings between Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of Armenia and President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan.

But he noted that there is a need to consider the risks that Azerbaijan is attempting to equate the “Azerbaijani community of Karabakh” and the legitimate authorities of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) to one another, and to put them on the same platform.

“In no case it should be permitted for the [Karabakh peace] negotiations to proceed with the way which Azerbaijan wants,” Abovyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

In his view, Pashinyan and Aliyev have had a detailed conversation a few days ago in Davos, Switzerland.

“The more meetings there will be, the better,” the MP added.

Abovyan said Artsakh is indirectly involved in the negotiation format, since Pashinyan’s talks with his colleagues from the NKR are no less intense than their own negotiations.

Also, the PAP lawmaker expressed a conviction that at a certain phase when there will be the need for decisive decisions, the Artsakh authorities will join the peace talks.

“The Armenian nation has [already] resolved the Artsakh issue,” he said. “So, the authorities of Armenia and Artsakh and the Armenian community should go toward the legitimization of that issue.”

Arman Abovyan added that any crucial matter should be resolved through the people’s wishes.
