To curb inflation the Armenian Government plans to establish control over prices for staple goods, RA Minister of Finance Vache Gabrielyan stated in Parliament.
If the prices for stable goods jump, the Government has the right to curb them for 90 days, the Minister said. The Government is conducting price monitoring. If traders raise prices to get excess profit, extra taxes will be imposed on them. "To curb inflation, the Government also plans to implement additional agricultural programs," Gabrielyan said. He added that the Government is honest with the people as it informs them of its steps.
In response, the Parliament member Artsvik Minasyan (ARF-D) advised the Government to admit its impotence against inflation.
