Even if 25% of the Georgian section of the North-South gas main, which supplies Russian gas to Armenia is sold, it will not affect its operation, RA Minister of Energy Armen Movsisyan stated in Parliament as he commented on Georgia`s intention to effect such a transaction.

"Even if Azerbaijan purchases the shares, it does not pose any threat to Armenia. Baku cannot blackmail us," the Minister said. The Armenian Government thoroughly discussed the issue. The Minister also said that Armenia has a reserve gas main with Iran.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that the Georgian Government has removed the aforementioned section from the list of strategic facilities not liable to privatization, whereupon the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan announced its intention to purchase the section.
