The policy on Armenophobia, which is implemented at the state level, is nothing new in Azerbaijan. This is what Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh Ashot Ghulyan said during the conference entitled “Armenophobia: Historic and Current Manifestations” and held in the European Parliament on 6 March.

The parliamentary speaker particularly emphasized the fact that this conference was being held in the building of the European Parliament, an institution that is one of the frontrunners for democracy, lawfulness and solidarity for not only nations in the European family, but also the whole world.

In his speech, Ashot Ghulyan touched upon the need to lead a joint struggle against xenophobia as one of the major challenges posing a threat to mankind in the modern world.

Talking about the policy on Armenophobia being implemented by Azerbaijan at the state level, the parliamentary speaker stated that this is nothing new in Artsakh’s neighboring country and has even become an integral part of Azerbaijani identity over the years, and since the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict remains unresolved, the Azerbaijani government is using it as a tool to mislead its people and spread wrong information about Artsakh. Ghulyan also recommended that his foreign counterparts visit Artsakh and get acquainted with the situation on the spot.

Summing up, Ghulyan expressed certainty that such events help reveal the essence of phenomena hindering the development of mankind and seek and find ways to get out of complicated situations through joint efforts.
