make preferableLayoffs in the public administration system will be minimal, at least in the short run, and from among the circles of employees of redundant loops of redundant ministries. This is what Armenia’s Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated during the question-and-answer session with government officials at the National Assembly on 6 March. This was the response to Deputy of the My Step Alliance’s faction Gaiane Abrahamyan, who asked about the accuracy of the reduction of up to 10,000 public servants in the working document signed by Deputy Premier Mher Grigoryan and Finance Minister Atom Janjughazyan.
“First of all, let’s touch upon literacy. The document states that if it turns out that there are 10,000 people who are not productive in the public administration system, those people need to be laid off. Based on the reactions of the representatives of the Republican Party of Armenia, they admit that they can’t picture the public administration system with people who are productive, and this goes to show how the public administration system has been for 20 years. Are we going to do away with all those people? No, in essence, there will be minimal layoffs,” the Premier stated.
He assured that each person in the public administration system will definitely have a chance to prove that he or she is ready to work.
The Premier urged the public to find out what the problem is before reacting immediately.
