YEREVAN. – Azerbaijan has not changed its policy towards Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh).

Former MP and director of International Center for Human Development think tank in Armenia, analyst Tevan Poghosyan, stated the above-said at a press conference on Friday.

In his words, the war—with Azerbaijan—is not over, and the Armenian party to the Karabakh conflict needs to use its political and diplomatic resources, but it should be understood that everything shall be determined at the battlefield.

“Our [the Armenians’] strength is in unity,” he stressed, in particular. “The adversary is waiting for the moment when it will be able to break us up.”

Poghosyan noted that Nagorno-Karabakh has no other allies but Armenia, and therefore Yerevan can contribute to changes in the situation.

“Democratic development plays a decisive role in elevating Karabakh’s image in the world,” the analyst added. “In this sense, high-quality elections will give greater opportunities.”

In Tevan Poghosyan’s view, however, the reduction in the number of shootings at the border does not mean that there is no tension any more.

“Anticipations, engineering work, statements that the adversary wishes to capture Yerevan; all that is a source of tension,” he concluded.
