We have to talk as less as possible about the principles that even the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs once considered archival. This is what Deputy of the My Step faction Hovhannes Igityan told journalists at the National Assembly on 13 March.

The MP reminded that there have been different proposals in different periods that have either been rejected or partially accepted. “Since all the principles have been rejected for this or that reason, it seems to me that we shouldn’t try to take those rejected documents from the ‘diplomatic archive’ and try to present them in a different way,” he said.

“I believe that we need to start a new page, taking into consideration the fact that the Co-Chairs have indirectly stated that the stage of negotiations ended because of Azerbaijan since it had tried to give a military solution to the conflict,” Igityan said.

Igityan also touched upon the response of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan to the joint session of the National Security Councils of Armenia and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, and according to that, since the session was held in Stepanakert, there is no need for Artsakh to participate in the negotiations as a separate entity. “I tried to faithfully understand the logic of that statement, but it was so absurd and illogical. According to Azerbaijan, if Armenia and the Republic of Artsakh are holding a joint session, it means that Artsakh should not be a party to the negotiations. On the contrary, I see that if Armenia and Artsakh consider themselves two separate countries and have their own security councils and are holding a joint session, this means that Artsakh can sit around the negotiating table,” Igityan emphasized.
