The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) slammed Turkish authorities for arresting several journalists and called on their immediate release.

The OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media, Dunja Mijatović, today called on Turkish authorities to immediately stop intimidating media following police action against several journalists.

Turkish police took at least six journalists into custody on Thursday morning. Police also raided the journalists’ homes and offices and confiscated equipment.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am reported earlier, about 10 people, majority of them journalists were arrested on Thursday in connection with the Ergenekon case.

One of the arrested is correspondent of Turkish Milliyet newspaper Nedim Sener, author of the book telling about assassination of Hrant Dink, chief editor of the Armenian-Turkish Agos newspaper.
