YEREVAN. – One hundred economists have already expressed their view in connection with additions to the Tax Code, 150 options will be offered, but we will not succeed in reaching a common ground and agreement; this is exactly the case when there is a need for a political decision. 

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Thursday noted the aforesaid at the National Assembly of Armenia, during the debates on the 2018 activity report of the government, and speaking about the forthcoming reform in the country’s tax law.

“People [in Armenia] should get high salaries,” Pashinyan stated, in particular.

Moreover, he expressed a view that solely a monthly wage that starts from 500 thousand drams (approx. US$1,025) can be considered a high and acceptable salary in Armenia.

To note, however, such a monthly wage is an astronomical amount for the overwhelming majority of the country’s population.
