YEREVAN. – The Russian border guards at Agarak checkpoint on the border with Iran on Tuesday have prevented an attempt to smuggle narcotics into Armenia.
During the inspection of a tourist bus that was en route from Tehran to Yerevan, the Russian border guards at this checkpoint detected—and by way of a sniffer dog—two packages with a dark brown substance—probably opium—in the driver’s possession, press service of the Russian Federal Security Service Border Guard Department in Armenia reported.
This person and the detected substance were transferred to Armenia Police in order to ascertain the circumstances behind this incident.
