A gypsy from Romania has become the world’s youngest grandmother. Rifca Stanescu gave birth to her daughter Maria when she was only 13, the Daily Mail reports.

Maria gave birth to son Ion at the age of 11, when her mother Rifca was only 23.

Speaking of her early marriage, Rifca said she wanted to marry her husband and spent a night with him not to marry another boy. According to gypsy tradition, she had been promised to another boy’s family. Rifca urged her daughter not to give up school and continue her education, but Maria just followed their traditions.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the youngest grandmother and grandfather are 29-aged British man and 29-aged woman from Naples, Italy.
