No doubt, as members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), Armenia and Azerbaijan must reach an agreement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Dmitry Vyatkin, a member of the Russian State Duma, told ER.RU, March 7. “The Nagorno-Karabakh problem is a most sensitive issue for both Armenia and Azerbaijan. No doubt, the countries must reach an agreement. Russia, in the person of President Dmitry Medvedev, acts as mediator. It is a dialogue at the level of Heads of State,” Vyatkin said. He said that “cutting the Gordian knot” in this case is an unacceptable, as thousands of human fates are behind the conflict.

The first step is completing the POW exchange process as soon as possible.

The second point envisages settling all the disputable issues in a peaceful way and investigating possible incidents on the line of contact with the parties` participation, under the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs` auspices and with the assistance of the Special Representative of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office.
