The United States warns about criminal liability for cooperation with the Iranian militarized Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, RIA Novosti reported, citing a statement by a high-ranking official from the US administration.

Earlier it was reported that the United States would soon designate Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) as a foreign terrorist organization.

"Prosecutors (US) will be able to start cases against those who support the IRGC, these people can also be denied entry to the US," said a senior official in the US administration.

State Department’s counterterrorism coordinator, Nathan Sales added at a briefing at the State Department that one can face a long-term imprisonment for any cooperation with the IRGC .

"The law (USA) prescribes up to 20 years in prison for providing material support to a foreign terrorist organization, and the IRGC will be one after seven days (when it will be listed)," said Sales.
