It is very important that the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs are passing from declarative statements to concrete steps , initiating an investigation of incidents in the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces, MP from “Prosperous Armenia” Party, Chairwoman on Standing Committee on European Integration Naira Zohrabyan told Armenian News-NEWS.am.

She considered the initiative of OSCE Minsk Group an achievement for the Armenian side, because “it is obvious that the idea of ​​an investigation on the contact line, negotiated in the Sochi statement of Armenian, Azerbaijani and Russian Presidents, was imposed on Ilham Aliyev and does not meet Baku’s interests.

She expressed hope that an unbiased investigation will be carried out and this time the Minsk Group will not put an equal sign between the parties in terms of political correctness and will indicate those responsible for incidents on the frontline. “It is clear both to us and the OSCE Minsk Group who is the initiator of incidents in the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijani armed forces,” Zohrabyan noted.

Armenian News-NEWS.am reminds readers that, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs released a statement on March 9. The Co-Chairs have asked Ambassador Andrzej Kasprzyk, the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson in Office, to carry out an immediate investigation with the participation of all sides, as agreed in the March 5 joint statement issued in Sochi by Presidents Dmitri Medvedev, Ilham Aliyev, and Serge Sargsian. The Co-Chairs will travel next week to the region, where they will call upon the parties to cooperate fully with the investigation.

The Co-Chairs strongly condemn any loss of life, and urge all sides to exercise restraint, respect the 1994 cease-fire, and fulfill their obligations undertaken in Astrakhan in October 2010 and Sochi earlier this month.”

Official Yerevan has already welcomed the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ initiative.
